IN BRIEF: 'Chicano Movement Activists' public program Sept. 10

芭乐视频 students are due to take part today (Sept. 10) in a public program recognizing the struggles and accomplishments of Sacramento-area Chicano activists.

The program includes video-oral histories, developed by the students in the course of their interviews with a number of activists, Rudy Cuellar Jr., Graciela B. Ramirez, Mariana Rivera and Richard Soto.

Some of those activists are expected to attend today鈥檚 program, to share their stories as well as memorabilia.

鈥淐ome meet the students, dialogue with the activists and support university-community engagement projects,鈥 organizers said.

This particular project is called 鈥淐hicano Movement Activists,鈥 sponsored by the and the .

Today鈥檚 program is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. at the community art center, 1224 Lemen Ave., Woodland. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served, organizers said.

The Department of Chicana/o Studies conceived of TANA and runs it; TANA stands for Taller Arte del Nuevo Amanecer, or Art Workshops of the New Dawn.
