Farmer-Author Masumoto Talks About 'Writing Rural'

May 6, Thursday -- Central Valley farmer and author of "Epitaph for a Peach" David Mas Masumoto will talk about "Writing Rural." A graduate of °ÅÀÖÊÓƵ, Masumoto is a third-generation Californian who farms organic peaches and grapes south of Fresno. In his newest book, "Four Seasons in Five Senses" (2004), Masumoto, who calls himself a "slow farmer," details his intimate connection to the land through stories about his ancient truck or a walk through his orchard. An upcoming collection of his essays, "Letters to the Valley, Harvest of Memories," will be published this fall. Sponsored by the Pacific Regional Humanities Center at °ÅÀÖÊÓƵ, the talk will begin at noon in Room 217 of the Art Building.
