The ������Ƶ, Davis, has been recognized as the sixth best public university in the United States in the inaugural .

������Ƶ is ranked 43rd among all U.S. public and private universities in the ranking released today (Sept. 28).

The university scored 77.5 points out of a possible 100 overall in four general categories:

• 33.8 out of 40 for outcomes including graduation rates, graduate salaries and reputation
• 18.3 out of 30 for resources for effectively delivering teaching
• 17.1 out of 20 for engagement with students including interactions with teachers and students, the number of accredited programs and student recommendations
• 8.4 out of 10 for environment including student and staff diversity, inclusion and the proportion of international students

The ranking took into consideration data from several sources and a survey of 100,000 students.

In the rankings published earlier this month, ������Ƶ was in a four-way tie for the 10th spot among public national universities and in a six-way tie for 44th among all national universities.

In other September rankings:

• ������Ƶ repeated this year as a top 10 “Cool School” in  of more than 150 of America’s greenest colleges and universities in 2015. ������Ƶ came in at No. 8 — marking the fifth appearance in the top 10 in the last six years.

• ������Ƶ is also among 381 schools in  for undergraduate education — representing about 15 percent of the nearly 2,500 four-year colleges in the United States.

• The university maintained its place at No. 85 overall in the .

In yet other rankings:

•  magazine recognized ������Ƶ as a top-10 national university based on contributions to the “public good” in rankings published in its September-October issue. The university comes in at 10th out of 303 national universities, public or private. The magazine defines the “public good” as social mobility (recruiting and graduating low-income students), research (producing cutting-edge scholarship and Ph.D.s) and service (encouraging students to give something back to their country).
• The national, nonprofit organization  listed ������Ƶ among the 30 best colleges and universities in the country for LGBTQ-inclusive policies, programs and practices.
