Open house at COSMOS, the summer program for budding mathematicians and scientists

COSMOS, the California State Summer School for Mathematics and Science, is reaching out to °ÅÀÖÊÓƵ faculty and staff with high school-aged children who may be interested in participating in COSMOS this summer.

COSMOS operates on four UC campuses, including Davis. Parents and their children are invited to learn more during a °ÅÀÖÊÓƵ COSMOS open house from 6 to 7 p.m. Feb. 11 in 1147 Mathematics and Sciences Building.

Students live on campus during the monthlong COSMOS program, this year scheduled from July 5 to Aug. 1. UC faculty and researchers work side-by-side with COSMOS students, in the exploration of advanced topics in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, using curriculum that is hands-on and lab intensive.

Students are eligible on completion of the ninth through 12th grades; some eighth-graders also are eligible. The 2009 tuition is $2,425 for California residents, with full and partial financial assistance available. Tuition includes room and board, classroom materials, field trips, and transportation while on campus.
