Repro Graphics has won gold, silver and bronze In-Print awards recognizing the unit’s outstanding design and print work. The awards are from the In-Plant Printing and Mailing Association, which has members from higher education and government, business and industry, hospitals and nonprofit organizations, and other sectors.

Each month is printed on a different kind of material, each month has a bicycle.

The gold award came in the calendar (desk or wall) category, for Repro’s sample book calendar, with each month printed on a different material to show Repro Graphics’ large-format capabilities. The materials included everything from photo gloss paper to an adhesive-backed floor decal. The book is quintessentially Ƶ, with the images all centered around a bicycle. Sample book calendar credits: Jill Walker, designer; and Juan Batres and Matt Shaw, printers.

The silver award honored another Repro Graphic calendar — but not in the calendar category. This award came in the variable-data printing (VDP) category, for the personalized wall calendars that Repro Graphics makes for free each year for staff and faculty. VDP calendar credits: Stephanie Chu and Walker, Joshua Babcock and Mike McGraw, variable data; and Jesus Blanco and Shaw, printers.

Repro Graphic offers the free calendars to promote its VDP capability. Here’s what that means for the personalized calendars: When you order one, you choose the photo you want (from a number of campus images), and you get to choose the days that you want to highlight (your birthday, for example, or National Puppy Day). The judges in the In-Print competition paid particular attention to the complexity of variable data use.

More Laurels

Repro Graphics received a bronze award in the category of annual reports, for the university’s 2014-15 annual report. Annual report credits: Andrew Larsen, designer; and Shaw, printer.

“We are honored to receive three awards from IPMA this year in recognition of the outstanding work performed on behalf of Ƶ and Ƶ Health,” said Brian Wadell, Repro Graphics director.

The award presentation is set for June in Pittsburgh, during the IPMA’s annual conference.
