Unitrans 50th Anniversary Content / Unitrans 50th Anniversary Content for Ƶ en The Red Buses That Could — and Did /news/red-buses-could-did <p>Unitrans celebrated its 50th birthday last Friday (March 2) without any of the system’s iconic double-deckers or any other bus in sight, after rainy weather forced a moved inside.</p> <p>But that didn’t dampen the spirits of the 150 or so people who had gathered in the alternate location, the Memorial Union’s east wing lounge. But, in addressing more than 150 people at the Unitrans party in the Memorial Union on Friday (March 2), he noted that his proposal amounted to only a few sentences in his campaign brochure. “I was running as an antiwar candidate,” he said. “I was not running as a Unitrans candidate. ...
