Maggie the Aggie and Cori Shine Alongside Football’s Home Opener Win

Tim Plough earned his first career win at the helm of the ��Ƶ football team at its home opener against Texas A&M-Commerce Saturday (Sept. 7) as the Aggies prevailed against the Lions, 36-22.

Also on display were twists on familiar attractions, like Cori the kickoff tee-retrieving dog being helped by a student athlete and a student making her debut in the role of Maggie the Aggie.

Kickoff Tee Retriever Cori Back for Another Season

��Ƶ’ “rocket dog” has achieved liftoff, retrieving the kickoff tee for another season of Aggie football.

Cori, a 3-year-old Labrador retriever owned by Veterinary Medicine Professor Lisa Tell ’87, DVM ’91, is building a relationship with a new kicker this season and continues to delight fans on and off the field.

Cori is ��Ƶ’ newest multisport Aggie, branching out with forays into basketball last month and baseball this weekend.

The Labrador retriever spent Saturdays last fall retrieving the kickoff tee from Aggie football games, made a basketball during halftime at a basketball game in January and will be at one of the first baseball games of the season this Saturday (Feb. 18) to retrieve bats.

A fan-favorite tradition is back for another season of Aggie football, with a new dog trotting onto the field to retrieve the kickoff tee.

Cori, a 2½-year-old Labrador retriever, made her first appearance in Saturday’s 43-13 win over the University of San Diego, fetching the tee after every Aggie kickoff.
